ChemRep Discovers a Formula for Efficiency with Sage 100
Established in 1977, ChemRep, Inc. is an innovative regional distributor and manufacturer’s representative for chemicals used in the rubber, plastics, and adhesives industries. Headquartered in South Barrington, Illinois, the company maintains warehouse facilities in Chicago and Minnesota.
ChemRep was running their operation using Peachtree for inventory tracking & accounts receivable as well as QuickBooks for general ledger accounting & financial reporting. Needless to say, there was a lot of duplicate data entry that occurred in both systems.
To make matters even more complex, ChemRep relied on a Rolodex to store customer account information, as well as hand-written order pads & invoices that were filed in “the book.” This manually-intensive method worked fine when ChemRep was small. But as the company began to grow and more customers were added to the Rolodex, an expanded catalog of inventory items and complex customer-specific pricing was putting a strain on operations.
